sour candy christmas

presents a bittersweet vision of the holidays, blending sweetness and discomfort. Inspired by the isolation and uncertainty of 2020, it reflects a darker side of Christmas during the COVID-19 era.

SOUR CANDY CHRISTMAS is like chewing a sour sweet — enticing and sugary at first, yet sharp and unexpected once it touches the tongue.

The collection offers a bittersweet reflection on the Christmas holidays during the era of social distancing and uncertainty in 2020, amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic. A time when traditions of gathering, embracing, and celebrating together were replaced by distance, silence, and fear.

Christmas has always represented connection and warmth, but during that moment in history, the desire to reunite was constantly challenged by the anxiety of an invisible threat. Like craving a sweet treat only to discover a sour taste, the anticipation of togetherness carried a contradiction — the sweetness of longing mixed with the bitterness of reality.

SOUR CANDY CHRISTMAS explores this tension between desire and restraint, intimacy and separation, hope and uncertainty, transforming a familiar celebration into a surreal experience shaped by memory, emotion, and longing.
